WILSON – Mary Romese Webb Meeks, born September 12, 1935, of Gardners Township in Wilson County, died peacefully in her sleep at home on October 25, 2022.
She was a Wilson County native who was educated at Gardners School, then Atlantic Christian College (Barton College). Romese procured employment immediately after college with Farm and Ranch Loans Division of Metropolitan Life and served there for over 20 years. She then delved into the medical records field for 16 years and retired as the Medical Records Manager from the The Special Care Center (Longleaf Neuro Med Treatment) in Wilson, NC. Following retirement, Romese dutifully provided care for her ailing parents, Tom and Beadie Webb, and her husband, Lynwood E. Meeks, until their deaths.
She is survived by Melody Meeks Flannery and Patrick Flannery of Gardners Township, and a host of kind relatives and friends. Romese requested no memorial contributions, rather a small family service and then her ashes scattered over the earth of farmland that she loved.
