Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend Richard Andrew Miller received ultimate healing and entered into God’s Kingdom on Wednesday, August 16th, 2023 at 11:20 a.m. after a year-long battle with Multiple Myeloma.
Rich was born to Frank and Phyllis Miller on March 29, 1955, in Batavia, NY. As a young man, Rich assisted with his family’s farm, as well as riding his bike to other local farms for work. In high school, Rich played on the basketball team. He attended Onondaga Community College and graduated with an AAS in Radio and Television Broadcasting. After graduating, Rich worked as a radio DJ and then an engineer with television station WOKR-13 for 13 years. Following this, Rich entered the technology field installing computer systems in schools, and eventually pursued a career in network engineering with BB&T bank until retiring on December 31, 2020.
In 1974, Rich met Lynette, a match truly made in heaven. Rich & Lynette went on to get married on April 21, 1979, and have two children, Shawn and Kristie, as well as 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Rich was a loyal servant to God, first and foremost. He loved the church, and loved sharing the love and warmth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, with as many people as possible. He was an integral part of many community organizations, including the Wilson Area Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors, Scoutmaster for Wilson Cub Scout Packs 381 & 8, the NC Baptist Men’s Disaster Relief, and Hope Station. He was also the founder and president of the Wilson chapter of the Buffalo Bills Backers. Rich was also an avid member of Eastgate Community Church, heavily involved in the Tech Ministry Team.
Rich joins his father, Frank, and his mother, Phyllis, in Heaven. He is survived by many loving family members, including his wife Lynette, son Shawn (April), daughter Kristie (James), brothers Peter (Brenda) and Rev. John (Kathie), sisters Janet and Martha (John), grandchildren Christian, Marianna, Sarah, Cian, Anya, Eden, Cameron, Sadie, Fiona and Spencer, and great-grandchildren Linde and Alara, as well as nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews.
A family visitation will be held on Saturday, August 19th, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Eastgate Church – Wilson, 2301 Montgomery Dr., Wilson, NC, followed immediately by a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rich’s name to any of the above-listed organizations.
Arrangements entrusted to Blue Star Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
