Donna Taylor Unrue passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. She is now fully healed and resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior. Donna was born October 28, 1959 to Howard Wilson Taylor and Linda Arnold Taylor in Raleigh, NC. After moving to Rocky Mount in 1965, they joined Benvenue Baptist Church and she was saved soon after.
Donna always excelled in school and received many awards, including the Outstanding Youth Award presented by the Optimist Club. She graduated from Northern Nash High School in 1977 and then went on to graduate with honors from Edgecombe Community College with an Associate Degree in Accounting. She was a hard worker and spent most of her career as a Data Processing Manager at Heritage Hospital in Tarboro.
Donna’s childhood was filled with fun family camping trips, vacations and other travels throughout the US. She loved to sing in the youth choir and participate in other youth activities at church. The Taylor home was the neighborhood hangout for all of Donna’s friends. As an adult, she continued to love being outdoors, where she enjoyed working in her garden, swimming and relaxing in the sun with a good book. She watched Jeopardy every night and everyone knew not to disturb her during that time. She always looked forward to our annual family beach vacations. Donna had a big heart and a generous spirit. She was full of love for her family and was especially proud of her daughters and grandchildren. We will always cherish the memories of our times together!
She is survived by her husband, Jeff Unrue of Rocky Mount; daughters, Amy Burrus Peterson (Jeff) of Wilson and Amanda Green of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Teagan, Hadley Kate and River Peterson; parents, Howard and Linda Taylor of Rocky Mount; sisters, Rhonda Capps (Billy) of Battleboro, Sandra Taylor (Todd McGee) of Lincolnton, and Jennifer Moss (Brian) of Spring Hope; nieces, Emily Lowman (Caleb) of Raleigh and Melinda Hall of Wilson; nephews, Andrew Capps (Julia) of Newport, Brandon Houser of Lincolnton, and Jeremy Hall of Spring Hope; uncles, Ronnie Arnold and Jimmy Arnold, both of Angier; aunt, Mickey Johnson of Lumberton. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 28 years, Randy Green and their beloved dogs, Jill, Jack and Rudy.
Donna was dearly loved and will be forever in our hearts. We will honor her with a Celebration of Life service on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Benvenue Baptist Church, 2464 Benvenue Road, Rocky Mount, NC. Visitation will be from 2:00-2:45pm with the service to begin at 3:00pm.
