HOLLISTER – Roger Lee Lynch was born on April 8, 1943, in Nash County, North Carolina to Clara (Silver) Lynch and Percy Lynch. He graduated from Eastman High School in 1960 and then joined the US Army, where he became a decorated marksman and sharpshooter before being honorably discharged.
Roger married his high school sweetheart, Victoria Hines, on July 4, 1964. They moved to Flint, Michigan, where they welcomed three children: Anthony, Quinton, and Rosalyn. They joined the Foss Avenue Baptist Church, became active members, and found their “Michigan family.” Roger sang in the choir and served as a Trustee. He helped the church found the Foss Avenue Christian School in 1976 and served as its Chairman of the Board.
Roger worked at General Motors for many years, electing to retire rather than commute to Detroit when the Buick City location where he worked was being shuttered.
One of nine sons and two daughters born to Clara and Percy, Roger enjoyed holidays and summer cookouts with his siblings in Flint. He and Victoria returned to Hollister upon retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and writing.
Roger was preceded in death by his son, Quinton; parents, Percy and Clara Lynch; and brothers Mansfield, Lee, Percy, and Lawrence Lynch. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Victoria; son, Anthony (Lee) Lynch; daughter, Rosalyn (Ty) Jackson; grandchildren Phillipe, Nigel, and Maya Tatem; sisters Mae Lynch and Irene Wright; brothers James Lynch; Jacob (Deloris) Lynch; Esau (Patsy) Lynch; and Robert (Judy) Lynch; and a host of nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters- in law, extended family, and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Pine Chapel Baptist Church, 37571 NC-51, Hollister, NC 27844.
