I was lucky to have known Coleen for over 25 years, she & my mom became good friends, she was always there with a non judgmental ear to listen, and her laughter. Coleen worked hard & didn’t give up, she went back to school later in life to become a teacher, a job she loved so much. She was a wonderfully unique person who loved to learn, to teach, to grow vegetables and big dogs. Her stories and laughter and kind soul will be so missed.

Whenever I needed a shoulder or a helping hand, you were always there. Thank you for being my safe place. I will miss our conversations, trips out to eat, and your laugh. This hurts!

I had the privilege to work with Bev at South Edgecombe Middle School. She was a phenomenal teacher, who truly cared for her students and strived to have each student reach their own level of success. She utilized many strategies to ensure that the students understand the lesson and learn to love Science. She provided a great feeder program in 7th Grade Science so the students were more successful with me as their 8th grade Science teacher. I absolutely loved collaborating with her and seeking student engagement in a subject we both loved. Most importantly, Bev and I became great friends and always tried to support and encourage the other. When I retired, we still stayed in touch and tried to get together whenever possible. Special moments with a special lady, who I will dearly miss. My heart goes out to her family. May God comfort and strengthen you during this time. Bev will live on in our precious memories shared together.
